Roof replacement in progress, with tarps protecting the property

Storm & hail damage

Storm damage doesn't wait. Neither do we.

North Texas hail and straight-line winds can damage a roof in minutes, often in ways you can't see from the driveway. We inspect, photograph and document every issue so you know exactly where your roof stands before you decide anything.

Signs your roof took storm damage

Hail damage rarely looks dramatic from the ground. The first leak can show up months later, long after the storm is forgotten. After any significant storm, look for:

  • Dents or dings on gutters, downspouts, vents and AC units
  • Granules collecting at the bottom of downspouts
  • Dark spots or bruises on shingles where granules were knocked off
  • Shingles that are cracked, creased, lifted or missing after high winds
  • Dented or cracked window screens, siding or fence boards
  • New water stains on ceilings or in the attic

Why hail size matters

Hail around one inch (quarter-sized) and larger commonly damages asphalt shingles, and North Texas sees that size nearly every spring. Smaller hail driven by strong wind can still loosen granules and shorten a roof's life.

Damage isn't always obvious even to an experienced eye from a ladder. That's why we combine drone imagery with a hands-on inspection of the slopes, and why we photograph what we find instead of just telling you about it.

Don't wait on a damaged roof

Bruised shingles lose their protective granules, age faster and let water in sooner. Many homeowner policies also have deadlines for reporting storm damage. Check yours, and get the roof looked at soon after a storm while the cause is clear.

How to spot a storm chaser

After every big storm, out-of-town crews knock on doors across DFW. The Texas Department of Insurance recommends checking a contractor before you sign anything:

  • Ask for a local, physical business address and proof of insurance
  • Get everything in writing, and never sign a blank or incomplete contract
  • Don't pay in full before the work is done
  • Walk away from anyone who offers to waive or cover your deductible. It's illegal in Texas

FAQ

Common questions

Should I call my insurance company or a roofer first?

Many homeowners get an inspection first so they know whether there's real damage before they file. The decision to file is always yours; our photo report simply helps you describe what's on your roof.

Can you tell hail damage from normal wear?

Usually, yes. Hail leaves random, bruise-like impacts and dents on soft metals, while wear shows up as even granule loss, curling and cracking over time. We photograph both so you can see the difference.

Will you meet my insurance adjuster?

If you'd like us to, yes. We walk the roof with the adjuster and point out the damage we documented. The claim and every decision about it stay between you and your insurance company.
